I have an attorney. Why do I need to work with Daintree Divorce Consulting?

If you are considering or currently navigating a divorce, you probably have a lot of questions. A key question we hear is: “Am I going to be okay?” The reality is that everyone’s definition of okay is different and everyone’s idea of fair is different. During this emotional time, it is critical to build a competent and trustworthy team of advisers to help you determine what “okay” and “fair” mean to you and your family.

There are three parts to every divorce: the Legal, the Emotional, and the Financial. You need an attorney to provide legal advice. You may need a mental health professional to help you navigate your emotions. You need Daintree Divorce Consulting to provide financial perspective and advice. We become part of your divorce team working alongside your attorney and other advisors to provide guidance, education, support and analysis of financial issues. We help you make rational and informed financial decisions. Working collaboratively with each other, we offer the creative options and financial strategies necessary to ensure you obtain the most financially advantageous settlement possible.

What role does Daintree Divorce Consulting play in gathering financial data?

We work with you to identify and collect the financial data pertinent to your divorce. Throughout the data gathering process, we identify key financial concerns related to your divorce to ensure no stone goes unturned. We have experience in identifying assets that may have been overlooked such as capital loss carry forwards, limited partnerships, unfunded pensions, etc.

Once all the data has been gathered, we help you and your attorney prepare schedules of Assets, Debts, Income and Expenses that must be exchanged with your spouse under penalty of perjury. We can work closely with your attorney to compile comprehensive document requests, interrogatories, and depositions. We save you time and money by focusing on your financial information, allowing your attorney to focus on the legal aspects of the case.

How does Daintree Divorce Consulting differ from other financial planning professionals?

As Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® practitioners, we have earned credentials from the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts by passing a series of examinations and completing on-going course work in divorce financial planning and analysis. We regularly participate in Family Law training along with attorneys. Many of our advisors also hold additional advanced credentials such as CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner (CFP® practitioner) and Certified Public Accountant/Personal Financial Specialist (CPA/PFS).

We understand the intricacies of divorce and have the expertise and experience to guide you through the process.
